Golden carpet in the Mountains

Patrick's Friendly Tours - Friday, December 03, 2010
If you are visiting the Blue Mountains during summer, there is no way you cannot spot these beauties!
As soon as we get to the mountains region, you can see small to large golden patches of Coreopsis Daisies (Coreopsis lanceolata) along Great Western Highway. These cheerful bunches which originate from Northern America, can be seen in the mountains during summer.

They are very pretty, but they are invasive weeds that need to be controlled. They can spread rapidly and penetrate undistubed native bushlands. In areas closed to National Parks, they need to be pulled out from the roots to stop the expantion. Beside this, they are a great sight when travelling throught he mountains.
